Here are some fun events going on around Southwest Florida for the weekend of August 10-12!
Friday night in downtown Fort Myers, starting at 6 p.m., there is a scavenger hunt where you can win cash prizes. Free to play, the scavenger hunt starts at Iberia Bank on the corner of First and Hendry St.
You pick up the first clue that will lead you to another destination in downtown Fort Myers. If you finish before 8 p.m., your name will be entered in the drawing for the cash prizes.
Dead fish and toxic algae have put a bummer on the SWFL outdoor activities, but we found one that won’t make you cough. Take a nature walk through the woods at Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium. Starting at 10 a.m., just before it gets too hot, the walk will take you through the different animals they are rehabilitating as well as the different plants and trees throughout the trail.
Your tour guide will show you around and teach you fun facts about the native plants in our backyards. This event is free with admission into the nature center.
Headed back to school? Take one last break at the Greater Naples YMCA from 10am – 2 pm this Saturday. This free event has entertainment for the kids and lots of good resources for parents.
They are offering free vision and lice checks to all students. The event, put on by Neapolitan Family Magazine, has over 60 vendors with lots of free giveaways. You do not have to be a member of the YMCA to attend this event.
