The Naples Preserve is encouraging visitors to take a second and make a promise of what they will do to take care of Naples and the Earth.
The promise globe is a small metal recreation of the earth in their butterfly garden. Inside, you can find a box full of other slips of paper where people wrote down their promise.
The sign reads:
If the Earth were just a ball, a few feet in diameter, people would come from everywhere to marvel at its pools of water, its valleys and hills, its beauty, and its life-giving ability. The people would marvel at all the creatures walking around on its surface, flying suspended in its air and swimming in its water.
The ball would be the greatest wonder ever known, and people would love it and defend it with their lives because they would know that their lives would be nothing without it. If the Earth were only a few feet in diameter.
