LaBelle is one of those places in Southwest Florida that has the power to truly showcase what the culture of the state is. We always have a good time when we visit, and never fail to connect with people that we will never forget.
I was working on a story in Labelle about a new antique shop in town when I came across a man in a truck dressed in shorts and a jacket. He was delivering a sign he made for the antique shop and introduced himself to me as the Mayor of LaBelle. I immediately was intrigued by how humble this man is, and asked him if we could film a story about his life in LaBelle.
We met the next day at a park, and Mr. David Lyons, the Mayor, showed up again in casual clothing and spirit full of stories.
