On the baseball diamond, FGCU faced another school enjoying a time similar to what it experienced during ‘Dunk City’ five years ago.

In the 2018 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, UMBC became the first 16-seed to beat a 1-seed.

Similarly, FGCU became the first 15-seed to make it to the Sweet 16 five years ago, beating Georgetown along the way and coining the term ‘Dunk City.’ It was a time that has propelled the school regarding enrollment and quality. (LINK: https://fgcu360.com/2017/03/dunkcityeffectcontinues2017)
