Craft Beer Continues to Thrive in SWFL

Florida ranks No.5 nationwide in the craft brewing and pulls in $3.1 billion.

Southwest Florida has been thriving with craft brewers for several years now. Big Storm Brewing is the most recent brewer to enter SWFL. The Clearwater-based brewery expanded its footprint into Cape Coral Brewing Co. old spot.

Craft Brewers Booming

If you drive between Punta Gorda and Naples you’re bound to find at least 20 breweries.

As of 2016, the Brewers Association counted 195 craft brewers throughout the state of Florida.

Florida pulls in at least $3 billion in the craft beer scene and ranks No. 5 in the United States.

Economic Growth

Economists from the University of Florida , suggests that the Great Recession of 2007 was the main reason some entrepreneurs tapped into the craft brewing industry.

Since their appearance in Southwest Florida, craft brewers opened doors for more job opportunities. And not just in the taproom, kitchen or behind the bar. There are opportunities for graphic designers, packaging technicians, public relations, marketing and social media.
