#BoycottFlorida Has Major Effect on SWFL Tourism Economy

Parkland student, David Hogg, is calling for a “tourism boycott” in protest of politicians not meeting his demands for more strict gun laws.

He feels that politicians are not listening to him and the other activist and is calling for people to cancel their spring break plans in Florida and take that money elsewhere.

A tourism boycott could have substantial effects on the SWFL economy.

One out of five local jobs relates to tourism.

Overall, tourism brought in $4.9 billion in tax-related revenue for the state, according to Lee County Visitor and Convention Bureau.
