STARS Complex Gets a New Playground

Out with the old and in with the new, and hopefully with the help of some of you!

Through a grant made possible by Target and Kaboom, children of the STARS Complex are getting a new playground.

The STARS serves the Dunbar community by providing recreational and educational services to youth and adults, and the playground will serve children throughout the community.

The design of this playground, says Program Manager Keith White, has been centered around the community from the beginning.

Students, parents and community members all received an opportunity to provide ideas and suggestions about what they thought the playground should look like.

A vote determined the final design. The grant requires that 200 volunteers from the community, which is where you can help!

The grant calls for 200 volunteers and you can be one of them. The playground revamp will take place on April 27. So grab some clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty, bring a couple friends and do something good for your community!

You can sign up to volunteer at The STARS Complex.
