A New Class At FGCU Is Seeking Your Opinions: White Racism

White Racism is a class being offered at FGCU in Spring 2018. We had the opportunity to talk with sociology professor, Theodore Thornhill Ph.D., about his upcoming class to get more clarification about the course.

Although he did not want to be filmed, he allowed us to voice record the interview. Thornhill talked a lot about the course description and broke down the different topics the course will cover.

He also recognized the controversy over this class.

“I’m not teaching this course because white people get upset at me teaching this course, and I’m not teaching it because it makes them comfortable. I’m teaching it because it’s an important topic that needs to be addressed,” said Thornhill.

Do you have strong opinions about the course? Well, you’re in luck.

There is an open panel Thursday, November 9th. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m. and the lecture starts at 6 p.m.
