Safe Kids of Southwest Florida offers free Car Seat Check-up

Ninety people die in motor vehicle accidents every day, it’s also the #1 cause of death in children ages 1-25.

Amy Bollen, Assistant Public Education Specialist with the Fort Myers Fire Department urges that we do everything we can to lower those numbers and give our children the best chance of survival.

How? Properly install your child’s car seat and make sure they are harnessed correctly.

Yet, 85% of Lee County car seats are NOT installed properly! Also, most families aren’t aware that all car seats expire six years from the date of manufacture due to changes in technology, wear and tear and deteriorating plastic modeling.

Fortunately, Safe Kids of Southwest Florida offers free Car Seat Check-up events and locations with properly certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians.

The next check-up event is on Feb. 1, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. at South Trail Fire & Rescue Station 62.
