What's next for Wisner Desmaret?

Southwest Florida is mourning the loss of Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller. He died one week after he was shot in the head Saturday, July 21st while responding to an incident at the Marathon Gas station off of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Wisner Desmaret, 29, was arrested and has been in custody at Lee Memorial Hospital recovering from injuries he received during the incident.

On Sunday, July 29, 2018 Desmaret was transported from the hospital and booked at Lee County Jail.

Desmaret appeared in court for the first time regarding this case on Monday, July 30, 2018. The judge ordered Desmaret to be held with no bond on the charges of First Degree Murder and Robbery with a Firearm. He is also facing several other charges.

Desmaret is looking at life in prison or possibly the death penalty.

As an undocumented immigrant from Haiti, the Immigration and CustomsEnforcement, ICE, filed a detainer against Desmaret. However, the agency will have to wait until after authorities in Fort Myers are done with him.

Desmaret’s next court appearance is August 27th at 8:30 a.m.
