In 2017, the Federal Communications Commission tallied the numbers and found more than 500-thousand robocall complaints were filed. Sixteen-thousand of those complaints came from Lee County, Florida.
So what do you do to stop these calls?
The FCC suggests the following:
- Register your landline and cell phone number on the Do Not Call List at DoNotCall.gov .
- Use an app to block those unwanted calls. True Caller, You-Mail, RoboKiller, and NoMoRobo
- When you get unwanted calls, tell them that ‘you do not consent to their calls.’
- Keep a record of the callers and report those calls to the FCC
