Watch Out for Hackers: Social Media Quizzes Taking Your Information

You’ve likely seen them on your Facebook timeline — “Who is on the cool list and who is on the crazy list?”

Well these apps want access to your profile, friend list, photos, tagged places and e-mail address…and some are concerned you shouldn’t be giving it to them.

The Better Business Bureau says hackers are getting your personal information from these quizzes.

Have you ever seen a pop up before taking a Facebook quiz? It’s asking you to give access to your private information.

The Bureau says scammers include embedded links in these quizzes that can cause a security breach on your personal account.

Facebook’s data policy says “Information collected to these third-party services is subject to their own terms and polices, not this one.”

Once you click allow, the third party could have a different set of rules when it comes to your private information.

Be careful and don’t give away answers to common security questions.
