Southwest Florida Breaks World Record for Largest Human Seashell

Happy National Seashell Day!

In celebration, Southwest Florida shattered a world record. A record for the world’s largest human seashell.

Last October, Shell Oil Company had 855 employees come together to create a shell logo.

“As the seashell capital of the world and part of our destination story, we knew that the beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel would need to hold that record,” Brian Ososky with the Lee County Visitor and Convention Bureau said.

1,500 people registered to be part of this event at the Outriggers Hotel on Fort Myers Beach. 1,093 of them showed up, breaking the record.

Congrats Southwest Florida!
