Now You Can Text The Fort Myers Police Department

Fort Myers Police Department (FMPD) has recently launched a new program with Tip 411.

It allows you can give tips about crime to FMPD while staying anonymous. The program is used in over 1,400 communities and now Fort Myers gets to benefit. It’s especially beneficial to people who worry about giving tips to the police because of retaliation.

Currently there are three ways to send a tip. Online . Via text, and through their app.

Each way is pretty straight forward. You log on, and enter in the corresponding information. It’s important to know that the tips need to be as descriptive as possible. So when you’re filling out the form, think of it as the 5 W’s. Who, What, When, Where, and How you know.

To text FMPD, get your smart phone out and text the number 847411 and the word FMPD along with your tip.

If you’re downloading the app it’s pretty similar. Click on the tab that says tip, submit your description.

You’ll soon receive a ‘Tipster’ ID. It’s a code that FMPD will identify you by and will use to communicate with you.

Remember Tip 411 is for non-emergency use only. If you have an emergency always dial 911.
