North Collier Fire Approves New Tax

The North Collier Fire Department Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a new tax Thursday morning.

Residents will be able to vote on the non-ad valorem tax on the August 28th ballot.

This is what it’ll read:

Beginning FY 2019/2020, shall North Collier Fire Control and Rescue District be authorized to levy authorized to levy non-ad valorem assessments for fire and rescue services at rates of $254.00 per residential dwelling unit, $0.25 per square foot for commercial property, $0.04 per square foot for industrial/warehouse property, $0.56 per square foot for institutional property, $90.00 per parcel for vacant land, with future rate increases in accordance with chapter 191, Florida Statutes?

__ Yes

__ No

A yes vote means you agree to pay this fee every year indefinitely and a no vote means you don’t and the fire department will have to find another way to fund what it needs.

The Fire Department says it needs this tax for new equipment, training, and to pay for an increase in emergency calls.
