You’ve probably already heard about the living conditions residents at Jones Walker Apartments have been living in.
Roaches, mold, roofs falling apart, and countless other problems. But lately, there’s a different sound in the atmosphere.
Several apartments have received renovations. Patched up ceilings, new door locks.
"They patched the holes in my walls and painted over it, it doesn’t look that bad you can’t really tell there was a hole there,” said Robin Gadsden.
Jones Walker Apartment owners were slapped with 45 code violations and must have each unit fixed by Nov. 15, 2018.
The thing is, only some apartments have been fixed. Robin is worried about other people who live there now.
"If they don’t pass the HUD inspections, will they still give the vouchers or would the owner have to place everyone?"
"And if that’s the case, that’s a lot of people to place," she said. "Hopefully, we can get some kind of progress going, even if they don’t give the HUD, I would rather them help everyone."
