Anytime a storm hits the Gulf of Mexico, the people in Florida watch it closely. Right now, Hurricane Michael is expected to hit Florida’s panhandle by midweek.
Southwest Florida will get tropical storm-force winds starting Tuesday morning. And even though SWFL is in the clear of Hurricane Michael, it is still important that you have the basic essentials ready just in case the storm makes a turn our way.
Lee County has a checklist for items you may need during emergencies, including hurricanes.
A few of them include:
- Closed-toed shoes
- Disposable kitchen supplies
- First Aid Kit
- Non-perishable foods; like canned goods, crackers and peanut butter
- Personal hygiene products; like deodorant, soap and toothpaste
- Prescribed and over-the-counter medications
- Rain gear
The full list of " Emergency Supplies " is available on Lee County's website.
In the meantime, fill up your gas tank because if the storm hits there might be a chance that there will be long lines for gas.
