Greyhound racing potentially coming to an end

We recently covered a story about Greyhound racing potentially coming to an end. People on both sides of the issue were commenting and generated a lot of good questions.

One comment said:

These dogs are not abused or mistreated. The group promoting this is raking in millions of dollars and have not adopted out one dog. The $$$ are lining their pockets.

We decided to dig deeper and address some of these concerns surrounding Grey2K .

Grey2k is a non-profit registered as a 501(c)4, this means that there is no limitation on how much it contributes to political campaigns. On the website, it says that 81% of revenue funds campaigns, legislative advocacy and investigation into the cruelty of greyhound racing.

For the comment on how the group promoting this is raking in millions, after reading through Grey2k’s 2016 tax forms, I found that it generated $608,079 in revenue.

Grey2k does not say that it adopt out greyhounds; however, it does promote the adoption of greyhounds. Grey2K’s main mission is to pass stricter laws around greyhound racing.
