Southwest Florida flyers now have more flight options!
Allegiant Air announced Tuesday the start of new nonstop services from Punta Gorda Airport to Albany, New York; Appleton, Wisconsin; Omaha, Nebraska; and Syracuse, New York.
The company is offering one-way fares on the new routes starting at $49.
“They come to Charlotte County, Lee County and maybe a little south or north,” Julie Mathis with the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce said. “These are future potential residents. They are people who eat in our restaurants. They stay in our hotels. They bring money to the community.”
Air travel passengers have increased by about 15 percent in 2017. The number of visitors from last year to this year has already increased by almost 6 percent. The economic impact has raised by the same percentage.
- Omaha, Nebraska beginning Nov. 14, 2018
- Syracuse, New York beginning Nov. 15, 2018
- Appleton, Wisconsin beginning Nov. 16, 2018
- Albany, New York beginning Dec. 13, 2018
The new seasonal routes, from the company based in Punta Gorda, will operate twice a week. The year-round route will fly three times a week.
These routes could bring more than 56,000 new visitors to the area. It falls inline with recent air travel options from Allegiant Air, such as the direct flights from Punta Gorda to Nashville to bring more tourism to SWFL.
“It’s just another way for them to get here and enjoy our communities,” Mathis said.
