The body of TeNiya Elnora Jones was found Monday morning. According to an email from the University of Kentucky the 19-year-old went swimming Saturday evening in the Mediterranean Sea with two other students.
One of the students involved reported that they got pulled in by a strong current. Two of the students were able to swim to shore, but Jones didn’t.
The Dunbar High School graduate was studying biology at the University of Kentucky and was in Israel because of her Minor – Islamic Studies Major. The exchange program was a focus on the Arabic language.
“The Dunbar family is devastated by the loss of TeNiya, our thoughts and prayers are with her family,” said Principal Carl Burnside, Dunbar High School.
