Expired Sunscreen is Better Than Nothing

You’re just hanging out. It’s a beautiful day at the park. And you’re thinking you really want to head out from the cover of the shade.

But you also don’t want to burn.

Unfortunately, the sunscreen you brought along is expired. Should you still use it?

“If it’s your only option, it’s better than nothing. Absolutely,” said Jana McDaniel, a licensed esthetician in Fort Myers.

“(It provides) some (protection), but maybe not to what its protection factor actually is,” she explained.

If you ruined your sunscreen, McDaniel explained other ways to protect yourself.

“Anything they can do to cover up. Wearing a hat, staying under an umbrella in your car, whatever you have to do. Just try to cover up,” she explained.
