Deputies Warn These Nine Apps Could Put Kids In Danger

After an operation conducted by Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office resulted in 21 arrests of online predators, deputies shared nine apps parents should watch for on their child’s phone.

The apps are as following:

  • Bumble
  • Snapchat
  • Kik
  • Live.me
  • Holla
  • Whisper
  • Ask.FM
  • Calculator%
  • Hot or Not

The six-day “Operation Intercept V” was an initiative to protect children in Sarasota County from online predators. The 21 suspects arrested ranged from 22 to 58 years old. These suspects responded to Internet-based ads, online apps or social media sites and engaged in sexually explicit written or verbal conversations.

They all traveled with the intent to have sex with a male or female child. A full list of people arrested can be found here .

There are ways to make sure your child doe not have these apps on their phone. The Apple App store has ways parents can restrict what apps a child is downloading.
