Dentists to Provide Free Dental Care to SWFL Families in Need

As parents prepare their children to head back-to-school, three local dentists are getting ready to offer free dental care to children and families throughout Southwest Florida.

The free clinic will take place on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, from 8 AM until noon at Family Dental of Fort Myers, which is located at 9011 Daniels Parkway, Suite 105 in Fort Myers.

“The reason why we’re doing this is to be able to help out people who cannot afford dental treatment and this might be one of their only opportunities to be able to have services provided for them like cleanings and extractions,” said Dr. Whitney Haidet, who is one of the volunteers.

Most of the patients are from the neighborhoods of Everglades City, Immokalee, and Lehigh Acres.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, children aged 5 to 19 years from low-income families are twice as likely to have cavities, compared with children from higher-income households.
