“I’m about ready to chain myself to a tree before I let another development destroy the natural Florida beauty,” said Lyndsey Logan, a Cape Coral resident.
Logan says she and others are showing up to a public hearing on Monday to address new developments going up by the Embers and Nelson intersection.
Her group believes the developments – affordable housing – are unnecessary.
“We have no open space where we can just walk through and just see nature. We have no space where we can go and pretend we’re not in the city for a second,” she said.
“Not only is this land very historic with live relatives to tell the tale, it’s a unique gem and asset we are allowing to be demolished,” she continued.
The Cape Coral city council is voting on plans for the unused space Monday (May 14th).
