Back To School Backpack Giveaway Helps SWFL Families

It’s back to school season!

A lot of families are stocking up on supplies for school. To help parents out Immokalee Tomato Farm is planning to give away over 1,500 backpacks filled with school supplies to elementary and middle school kids in Southwest Florida. The event will take place at Immokalee High School’s football field.

In order to receive a backpack with free school supplies, kids must be present with a parent or guardian.

Why is a tomato farm giving away all this stuff? We talked with Jaime Weisinger who works for Lipman Family Farms.

“We know that folks in Immokalee don’t have a lot of resources and they need as much help as the can get,” Wesinger said, “and so [for] the town that has helped build our business, we want to give back to that town and that’s why we decided to start this up.”

Lipman Family Farms will also provide about 200 clear backpacks to kids that will be going to schools that require clear backpacks. Additional to the backpacks the Lipman Family Farms is also giving away 200 bikes and $3,000 in gift cards.

During the event, parents and kids can enjoy music, food, face painting, and games all provided by local business owners, sponsors, and more than 40 vendors.
