Expansion plans could include airports and colleges
You might have heard Applebee’s “anticipate” it will close 60 to 80 restaurants in the U.S. and abroad.
Applebee’s parent company, Dine Brands Global, Inc., did not share which cities will be affected, but in its 2017 Q4 report the company explained “closures will be based on several criteria, including meeting brand and image standards as well as operational results.”
So here’s something to keep in mind. Dine Brands Global plans to open more stores worldwide. Dine Brands reported that it expects to open between 10 and 15 new restaurants. And most of them will be international openings.
There are talks of possibly branching out to colleges and airports, according to a company source.
In a recent Nation’s Restaurant News interview, Dine Brand’s CEO Stephen Joyce said the plan is to improve the digital customer experience.
For example, if you want to order takeout from your car and pay for your meal with your mobile devices you can.
