Punta Gorda Regional Airport is always one of two things: deserted or completely packed.
But it could stay empty for a while if Allegiant Airline pilots follow through with their decision to strike over Allegiant’s “flawed” work schedules.
Allegiant Airline has not returned calls seeking comment.
Punta Gorda Regional Airport declined to comment.
If Allegiant pilots move forward with a strike, 39 domestic flights out of Punta Gorda could be affected.
As an alternative, you can fly out Fort Myers International Airport or Bradenton-Sarasota International. Both airports have discount airlines like Southwest, JetBlue, and Frontier.
