A Fishy Proposal: Red Tide Awareness Photos

Do these engagement photos look fishy to you?

Not because they are wearing masks…or because these engagement photos are fake. But the dead fish at Big Carlos Bypass, however, are very real.

Why the fake photo session?

All to spread awareness about the red tide issue going on.

Ricky and Lacey Mendoza have been married for less than a year now.

The photographer they teamed up with wanted to show the world how bad red tide is.

We went to check out the spot for ourselves, and we found dead fish, horseshoe crabs, starfish, and other wildlife.

The smell is horrible, but red tide is natural. The algae bloom has been very deadly this time around.

The couple is hoping the Facebook post will get the word out and encourage the community to be part of the solution.

The photographer for these photos was Hollie Agapi.
