I’ve heard the name many times and probably passed it in my car even more. The location in Fort Myers is thrown in the mix and mess right off of Daniels Parkway traffic, but it is not a spot you should over look.
Welcomed by our server Gideon, who was attentive and helpful, as my dinning partners is vegan (Being vegan at a southern restaurant isn’t that easy). This wonderful waiter offered up his tips and takes of the menu.
Item ordered? Fried cheesy grits, fried green tomatoes, frog legs (for me), with sweet tea to wash it all down.
It seemed as if this particular kitchen was firing on all cylinders during the lunch hour because every dish raced out and did not lack in the quality department. The cheesy grit concoction, accompanied by a jalapeño ranch dipping sauce, was a bit strange on the palate at first — they grow on you however.
Frogs legs aren’t something I see often, so I took advantage and they didn’t disappoint.
Lightly breaded and fried while still a bet oily, they didn’t stand a chance on my plate. Dunk these suckers in some honey hot sauce for a really pleasant experience. Be warned, they come out at an extremely high temperature so don’t burn yourself like me.
Enjoyment and satisfaction are two words that come to mind when I think of my trip to Fancy’s. Go there on a lunch hour, or for dinner, heck just get in there and eat everything.
It might be a good idea for me to get a gym membership at this point.
