The little yellow building is filled top to bottom with documents and artifacts from Southwest Florida’s past. The Southwest Florida Historical Society is run completely by volunteers who are passionate about preserving this area’s past.
Throughout the years, locals saved documents and artifacts from this area and this is how the Southwest Historical Society came to be.
The entrance lobby of the historical society is a monthly exhibit. They also have separate rooms dedicated to maps, files and research.
Anyone can visit the historical society, but they are only open two days a week on Wednesday and Saturday.
The volunteers are helpful and have plenty of great stories to tell. Have questions? They’ll either know the answer or help you search for it.
