If you’ve lived in Southwest Florida for any amount of time, you already know you need a car to get from one place to another. And road trips throughout the state can get a little tricky.
But the great thing about living in one of the fastest growing cities in the United States is that more commuting options are becoming available.
If you’ve been thinking about driving from SWFL to Ft. Lauderdale or Miami but don’t want to add mileage to your car, well, there are several options.
Fort Myers: OurBus
In Fort Myers, OurBus recently started offering express trips to Ft. Lauderdale and Miami International Airport.
For now, trips are only offered on the weekends. The bus pulls off at 12:10 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at the bus loop at Florida Gulf Coast University.
You don’t have to be a college student to get on board. But you do have to figure out parking or get a ride to the pickup point.
To kick things off, OurBus is charging $10 for one-way tickets. As ridership increases, prices will increase to $15-$30 each way.
Naples: Red Coach
If you’re closer to Naples, you can hop on a RedCoach that will take you to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. Starting at $40
As an alternative, you can split the cost amongst your friends with a ride-share service like Uber or Lyft. A one-way trip will cost close to $200.
