Every Tuesday and Thursday, local moms get together at Centennial Park to workout with professional bodybuilder, Francis House. However, this is no ordinary workout – each session includes cardio and strength training outside, where moms come together to support one another, while children tag along to play on the nearby jungle gym. Our team headed to the park to catch a class and experience it for ourselves.
Going to the gym can be time-consuming and intimidating. Local Southwest Florida moms found a way to make time for working out at Centennial Park. Through all the running, burpees, and sweat dripping, every woman in the session looks out for one another.
We talked to a few moms who shared with us that they are thrilled with the workout group and have been attending religiously since its formation in December. Many in attendance tell us that they come for both classes each week and wouldn’t miss it for anything. Francis’ wife, Cari, created the group to lose weight after having their youngest daughter. Cari’s co-workers agreed to give it a go, and the weekly classes have been successful ever since.
“I had just had two babies and I wanted to get back in shape … I got a group of girls get to together and have a fitness class with my husband, Francis House.”
Unlike most fitness options, this fitness group acts as a support system for local Southwest Florida mothers. Each woman supports and empowers one another throughout the entire workout. When someone gets tired and wants to slow down, the others encourage her to keep going.
