The Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida is taking its mobile pantry to several schools throughout the area to help feed families in need. From August 7 to August 9, the non-profit organization will donate food during back to school open house.
The next stop on the open house back to school tour will be at Harns Marsh Elementary in Lehigh Acres, Thursday, August 9 from 4 pm – 6 pm.
“The parents can come when they are picking up their children,” said Louise Bain, who works at Harry Chapin.
“Back to School means extra expenses, buying supplies, buying clothes, families that are struggling with their budget from time to time, may have a need for food at this time of year more so than other times.”
A single mobile pantry can provide food to more than 200 families. The organization sends out at least 30 mobile trucks every month throughout the Southwest Florida area.
